Woodlands Mathura Restaurant

We are up on the second floor of Tarapore Towers. That’s at No 827 Anna Salai, which most people still call Mount Road. It’s a big building and you have to take the stairs or the lift to get to us. Woodlands Mathura Restaurant is what we call the place. It’s a vegetarian spot. We’ve been serving food in this building for many years now. The view from the windows looks out over the traffic on Anna Salai, which is always moving. Inside, it’s a bit quieter. We serve tiffins, meals, and coffee. The interior is quite plain. We use stainless steel plates and tumblers for the water. It’s the kind of place where office workers come for a quick lunch. It gets very crowded around 1:00 PM. We have to move fast to get everyone fed. The floors are tiled and easy to clean. We don't have soft music or dim lighting. It's bright and functional. Our staff has been here a long time, some for decades. They know how to handle the rush. It’s a very Chennai kind of place. Nothing fancy, just the food people expect. If you’re shopping or working near Mount Road, you might have stopped in before for a quick bite. We just keep doing what we do, day after day. It's a steady business. We aren't trying to change anything that already works. We just keep the coffee hot and the tables clear.
