Amma Chettinadu Restaurant

You can find us on Dr Giri Road in T Nagar, right near the Bharathi Raja Hospital. It is a small place but we stay busy throughout the day. People coming from the hospital often drop in for a quick bite after their appointments. T Nagar is always crowded, so our little corner feels a bit tucked away but still easy to get to. We focus on Chettinad style cooking because that is what we know and how we were taught. The kitchen starts very early in the morning to get the masalas ready for the day. We don't have a big staff, just a few people in the back and a couple of us serving out front. The tables are basic and we don't bother with fancy decorations or expensive lights. It is more about getting the food onto the plate for the customers. Sometimes we run out of certain items by the evening if the lunch crowd was bigger than we expected. We try to keep things clean and the service moving along. It gets hot in the kitchen during the summer months, but we are used to it by now. Most of our customers are local workers or people visiting the neighborhood for shopping. We don't have a website or anything like that, we just open the doors every day and see who comes in. It is a simple life running a restaurant here in Chennai. We just hope the food is okay for everyone.
