Welcome Biryani

Down here in Royapuram, things are always moving fast. Welcome Biryani is located on West Kalmandabam Road, No 36/1 to be exact. We are very close to the Kalmandapam Telephone Exchange, so most people use that as a landmark to find us. Chennai heat is no joke, but the kitchen is always going. We start early in the morning getting the rice and the meat ready. You can usually smell the spices hitting the air long before we actually open the doors. It is a small setup, nothing too fancy, just a few tables and a counter where we serve out the plates. We get a lot of workers from the nearby offices and locals who have lived in Royapuram their whole lives. We don't really have a big marketing plan or a polished look. We just focus on the pots on the stove. Some days we run out of food faster than we expected, and other days it’s a bit slower. That is just the way the food business goes. We try to keep the floors clean and the water jars filled. It gets loud when the lunch rush hits, with everyone talking and the sounds of the street coming in through the door. We’ve been part of this street for a while and we know most of our neighbors by name. It’s just a regular local spot for anyone who is hungry.
