You can find us at 34 Police Commissioner’s Office Road in Egmore. This area of Chennai is always busy because of all the government buildings and the hospital nearby. Our building is quite old and has high ceilings, which helps a bit with the heat, though we still need the fans going full blast. We’ve been here for many years, and the neighborhood has changed a lot around us. There are more cars now and much more noise from the street. We have a lot of regular customers who work at the police office or the bank. They come in for their morning tiffin or a quick lunch. The furniture is heavy wood and it’s been here as long as I can remember. Sometimes the roof leaks a little bit during the heavy rains in November, so we have to move the tables around. We don't have a big staff, just a few people who know how to handle the rush. We start our day very early to get the sambar and chutney ready. The smell of the kitchen fills the whole front area by eight o'clock. We don't use any fancy machines, just the old ways of doing things. It’s not a fancy place for tourists, just a regular spot for people who live and work in Egmore. We don't have a website or a social media page. If you want to eat, you just come to the road and look for our door.
