About The Handloom Export Promotion Council – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Chennai
We've been over here at 34, Cathedral Garden Road in Nungambakkam for quite a while now. Most people around here know the spot. The Handloom Export Promotion Council basically handles the paperwork and connections for the local weaving community. It is a lot of desk work, honestly. We spend our days sorting through export files and talking to people who want to sell their fabrics outside the country. It’s not a fancy office, just a place where things get done. There are usually a few stacks of folders on every desk. Sometimes the power goes out, but we just keep at it. People come by to ask about rules or how to ship things overseas. We try to help them figure out the logistics. It is mostly about making sure the handloom stuff gets to where it needs to go without too much trouble. Sometimes the phones don't stop ringing and other times it is quiet enough to hear the traffic outside. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us in the office trying to keep the wheels turning for the weavers. The building itself is old but it works for what we need. We're just regular people working here, doing the daily grind. If you're looking for us, we are right there in Nungambakkam, just look for the sign on the gate. We keep the doors open and the fans running through the heat.
