Thanjavur Military Hotel

If you know Park Town in Chennai, you know how busy it gets, especially near the Kandasamy Temple. Our place, Thanjavur Military Hotel, is located at No 60/75 on Rasappa Chetty Street. It’s a narrow street and there is always something going on outside our door. Being near the temple means there are always people walking around, and the noise of the city is just part of the background here. We have been in this spot for some time, and the building shows its age a little bit, but it’s sturdy. Inside, it is pretty basic with simple seating and not much in the way of decoration. We think of ourselves as a local spot where people come when they are hungry and in a hurry. The kitchen is always busy, and you can hear the sounds of pots and pans from the back. We aren't trying to be a fancy restaurant; we are a military hotel, which means something specific to the people around here. The lighting is a bit dim sometimes, and the walls might need a new coat of paint soon, but it feels like home to us. It’s mostly just us working hard to keep things moving. We see a lot of the same faces every day, people who work in the nearby shops or live in the neighborhood. It’s just a honest place in a crowded part of Chennai. We don't bother with anything flashy or modern.
