Tamizh Annai Restaurant

Being right behind Devi Multiplex means we see a lot of people coming and going from Tamizh Annai Restaurant. Ellis Road is always crowded and noisy, but that is just how Anna Salai is. We have been here in this part of Chennai for quite some time. It is a small place, nothing too big or loud. You can hear the constant sounds of the traffic outside even when you are sitting inside. Most of our customers are folks working nearby or people catching a movie at the theatre. We start early to get things ready for the day. The kitchen is always busy with pots and pans clanking. It is a bit cramped sometimes when the lunch crowd comes in, but we make do. Chennai heat is no joke, so the fans are always on full speed. The walls have some old pictures and the furniture is just basic wooden stuff that has seen better days. We don't have a big menu with fancy names, just the usual things people like to eat. Sometimes we run out of stuff by the evening if it has been a busy day. It feels like a small part of the old Mount Road area that hasn't changed much while everything else gets bigger. It is just us and a few staff members trying to serve whoever comes in. We do not worry about being the most modern place around, we just stick to our routine.
