Submarine Bar

You can find Submarine Bar on Wallajah Road in Chennai, right across from the New Secretariat building. We occupy an older building that uses both the old and new numbering systems on Mount Road. It has been a fixture in this part of the city for many years. When you walk in from the bright Chennai sun, it takes a second for your eyes to adjust because we keep the lighting quite low inside. It’s a place where people come to get away from the heat and the noise of the traffic on Mount Road. We have plenty of fans going to keep the air moving, and the furniture is the kind you can actually relax in without worrying about making a mess. We serve a variety of drinks and some local snacks that go well with them. Many of our regulars work in the nearby government offices and stop by once their shift is over. We don't have a fancy dress code or a polished corporate vibe. It is just a straightforward bar where you can sit down and have a cold drink. The street outside is always full of buses and honking cars, but inside it stays relatively calm. Our staff knows most of the people who come in by their first names. We just keep things running the way they’ve always been run.
