Down in Parrys, things are always moving fast, and we are right in the thick of it on Thambu Chetty Street. Our building has the old number 193 and the new one 282, which is just how it is in this part of North Chennai. We are very close to the Kaaligambal Temple, so we get a lot of people coming in after they finish their prayers. Parrys is a place where the streets are narrow and the buildings are packed together, so it’s always a bit of a struggle with the crowds outside. Inside, we try to keep things simple and traditional. It’s a vegetarian place through and through. The tables are close together because space is hard to come by here. We don't have any fancy signs or modern decor. It’s the kind of place where you come for a quick breakfast of idli or a full meal on a leaf. The staff has been around for years, and we know many of the customers by name. It’s hot and the noise from the street never really stops, but there’s a certain rhythm to it that we like. You can hear the temple bells sometimes when the traffic dies down for a second. We focus on getting the food out hot and fresh, and we don't worry too much about anything else. It is a bit worn out around the edges, but it’s real and folks seem to like that.
