Shahi Biriyani

Triplicane is a place with a lot of history, and Triplicane High Road is always packed with people moving back and forth. Our shop is at the old number 209, though the signs say 348 now. It gets a bit confusing for new people, but the regulars know where we are. We focus mostly on biriyani because that is what everyone in this part of Chennai is looking for. The big pots are usually ready by lunch, and that’s when the real rush starts. It’s a noisy street with plenty of horns honking and people shouting, so the shop feels like a bit of a break from that, even if it’s small. We’ve been here long enough that we know most of the people who walk through the door by name. It’s not a place where you sit for hours; you come in, eat your fill, and head back out to whatever you were doing. The rice and meat take a lot of work to get right, and we spend most of our mornings just prepping everything in the back. There isn't much to the decor, just the basic stuff you need to run a food stall. We don't bother with fancy signs or anything like that. If the food is good, people come back, and that has worked for us so far in this busy neighborhood. We just keep making the pots every day and hope for the best.
