Punjabi Dabha Restaurant

Our restaurant, Punjabi Dabha, is located in the Allied Mount Casa Blanca building on Anna Salai. Being on Mount Road means we are right in the heart of Chennai, where the traffic is almost constant. We are near the old Anand Cinema Hall, which used to be a huge spot for everyone. The building we are in has been around for a long time, and you can feel that history when you walk in. It’s on the 701 level, so we are a bit removed from the direct noise of the street, but you can still hear the city humming below. It’s a bit of a trek to get up here, but people seem to find us alright. Running a Punjabi place in the middle of Chennai is interesting because the weather is so different from the north. We spend a lot of time making sure the kitchen doesn't get too hot. The space itself isn't huge, but it's enough for the tables we have. We see a lot of office workers during the day and some film-goers or shoppers in the evening. There’s no big marketing team behind us, just a few people who know how to cook and serve. We keep the walls simple and the focus on the kitchen. It’s a busy life on Anna Salai, and we are just glad to have our own little corner in this big city.
