Orange Pure Veg Restaurant

The morning starts with the sound of the shutters going up. At Orange Pure Veg Restaurant, located at No 86/2 Anna Salai, we do not really have time for slow mornings. Mount Road is already loud by seven. Being near Wellington Plaza means there are always people walking by or looking for a quick bite. We focus on the veg stuff, mostly because that is what we know how to do without overcomplicating the kitchen. My cousin and I usually handle the main prep, getting the vegetables chopped and the big pots of sambar going before the humidity really kicks in. It gets pretty hot in the kitchen, but you just get used to it after a few weeks. The place isn’t anything special to look at, just some tables and chairs that have seen a lot of use over the years. We try to keep the floors swept, but with the dust from the street, it is a never-ending job. We see a lot of office workers during lunch, and they are usually in a hurry. We do not have a big team or fancy uniforms, just a few of us making sure the plates are full and the water is cold. It is a lot of work to keep a small place running on such a busy road, but we stay busy. We just keep our heads down and do the work every day.
