Novelty Tea House

We are up on the first floor of the Red Cross Building. The address is No 32/52 on Montieth Road in Egmore, Chennai. Our pin code is 600008. We are quite close to the Hotel Ambassador Pallava. Being in the Red Cross Building means we are in a place people recognize. You have to come up the stairs to find us. Chennai is a busy city and Montieth Road has its share of traffic and noise. We start early in the morning, usually before it gets too hot. Making tea is what we do all day. We have the big pots going and the smell of tea is everywhere. The staff has been together for a long while and we work well in the small space we have. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us. We keep the benches clean and the cups washed. Sometimes it gets a bit cramped when a lot of people come in at once, but we manage. The building is solid and has been there for years. We just fit into our little corner of it. Most of our day is spent at the stove or talking to the regulars who come up the stairs. It is a straightforward way to spend the day in Egmore. We don't try to make it sound better than it is.
