Namma Veedu Vasanta Bhavan

We are located at No 50 on Tana Street, right in the middle of Purasawalkam. If you know Chennai, you know how busy this area gets, especially with Saravana Stores being right across from us. It’s a constant stream of people all day long. We open early to get the coffee going and start the tiffin. Namma Veedu Vasanta Bhavan has been a part of this neighborhood for quite a while. The street is always loud with bikes and people shopping for clothes or gold nearby. Inside, it’s a bit of a squeeze when the lunch crowd comes in. We have waiters who have been carrying plates here for years. They move fast because they have to. We don’t go for anything fancy with the decor; it’s just tables, chairs, and good light. The kitchen is always humming with the sound of grinders and stoves. We get a lot of regulars who stop by after shopping. Sometimes the rain floods the street a bit, but we keep going anyway. It’s a lot of work keeping up with the demand in a place like Purasawalkam. We focus on getting the food out hot and making sure the floors stay clean, which is hard with so many feet coming in. It’s a typical Chennai spot, nothing more, nothing less. We just work hard every day to serve the people who walk through that door on Tana Street. It keeps us on our toes and we wouldn't have it any other way. It's just home for us.
