Namma Veedu Vasanta Bhavan Restaurant

This restaurant is at No 33 Gandhi Irwin Road, which is right opposite the Egmore Railway Station in Chennai. Because of the station, we get people from all over the country coming in with their bags. They’re usually in a hurry to catch a train or they’ve just arrived and are looking for something to eat before heading to their hotel. It’s a very fast-paced environment. We start the day very early since the trains don't stop for anyone. The noise from the station and the traffic on Gandhi Irwin Road is something we’ve just gotten used to over the years. We have a lot of tables to handle the rush. The staff at Namma Veedu Vasanta Bhavan Restaurant has to be quick on their feet. We serve the usual stuff people expect in Chennai. It’s a lot of washing dishes and cleaning tables throughout the shift. The building itself is older, and we do our best to keep it in good shape despite the huge number of people coming through. It gets really crowded during the morning and evening peaks. We don’t have any fancy mission statements or anything like that. We just run a busy restaurant in a busy part of town. Sometimes it’s chaotic, but that’s just how it is near a major railway hub. We’re just here doing our jobs and making sure people get fed before they move on to wherever they’re going next. It’s a long day for all of us, but the station keeps things interesting.
