Madras Masala

Being right near Egmore Railway Station means we see a lot of people in a hurry. Our spot on Gandhi Irwin Road is pretty easy to spot if you’re coming off the train at the Egmore station. We’ve been running Madras Masala here for a bit now. It’s a hectic area, especially when the big trains arrive and everyone is looking for a bite to eat. We keep the tables ready and the kitchen going from early morning. It isn’t a quiet place, but that’s just how Egmore is every day of the week. We serve the usual meals you’d find in any Chennai eatery. It’s noisy outside with the buses and the autos, but inside we just focus on getting the food out to the tables. The space isn’t huge, so you might be sitting close to someone you don’t know. That’s pretty common here and nobody seems to mind it. We don't have fancy uniforms or anything like that. Just plain clothes and hard work from the staff. The ceiling fans keep the air moving when it gets hot in the afternoons. Sometimes we run out of certain items if the lunch rush is bigger than we thought. We just tell people what’s available and go from there. Most people are just looking for a decent meal before they catch their next bus or train. We try to keep things clean, but with so many feet coming through, it’s a lot of mopping. It's just a regular eatery near the station.
