Kumarakom Restaurant Velachery

We are located over in Velacheri, right across the road from the Pon Kavitha Store. If you are coming from the Vijayanagar Extension side, you will find us easily enough. This part of Chennai has changed quite a bit lately with all the new apartments and buildings going up everywhere. Our restaurant is a simple place where people from the local neighborhood come to grab a meal. We do not have a massive parking lot for cars, so people often have to squeeze their scooters and bikes into whatever small gap they can find on the side. The kitchen is always noisy with the sound of pans clanging and the big exhaust fan going full blast to get the heat out. We mostly serve people who live nearby or work in the small shops around here. It gets quite warm inside during the hot afternoons, so we keep the ceiling fans going at their top speed. The floor is a bit worn out in certain places from all the feet walking over it over the years. We try to keep things organized, but sometimes when it is really crowded, things get a little bit chaotic. That is just part of running a local eatery in a busy area. We are not trying to be a five-star place or anything fancy, just a spot for a decent meal. Our staff is mostly local guys who have been around the 600042 area their whole lives. We see the same faces every week, which is nice.
