Kraft Designers

We work out of 13, Venugopal Avenue on Spurtank Road in Chetpet. It’s a decent spot in Chennai where the trees give a bit of shade, but it still gets incredibly hot inside the office during the summer months. Kraft Designers is really just a workshop where we come up with ideas and try to make them work on paper or fabric. The tables are usually cluttered with pens, rulers, and bits of material. We aren't a corporate firm with a lot of rules; we just dress comfortably and get to work. Most of our time is spent discussing projects or trying to fix a design that didn't come out right the first time. The street outside can get quite jammed with traffic during the rush hours, and we often hear the horns while we’re working at our desks. We don't really do big presentations. Usually, we just show people what we’ve been working on and see what they think. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. Some days are slow and we just sit around drinking tea and thinking, while other days are a total rush to finish a project before the day ends. We’ve been at this Chetpet address for a good while and the neighbors are all familiar faces. It’s a simple setup that allows us to focus on the actual craft without too many distractions from the outside world. We just try to stay busy and keep the sketches moving.
