Idli Vilas

Idli Vilas is right here on T H Road in Old Washermanpet. People know us for being just across from the Maharani Theatre. We have been at this spot for a while now, though the door numbers changed from 328 to 1007 at some point. It is a busy area in Chennai, and we try to keep up with the morning rush every day. Most folks stop in while they are out running errands or heading to a movie nearby. We focus on getting things ready early because that is when everyone is looking for a quick bite. The kitchen gets really hot, especially during the summer months, but we just get on with it. It is a simple setup, nothing fancy at all. You will see the staff rushing around with plates of idli and sambar. We do not spend much time worrying about the decor, honestly. It is more about the routine of serving the local crowd. Sometimes it gets crowded and you might have to wait a minute for a seat, but that is just how it goes here. We see the same faces every day, which is nice. It feels like we are part of the neighborhood fabric. If you are walking down T H Road, you cannot really miss the building. We are just a regular place doing our thing in this part of town. There is not much to say besides we are open and ready for whoever walks through the door.
