Bharath Restaurant

We are situated right inside St George Fort, near the Secretariat area in Chennai. Our shop is No 98, and we are quite close to the Syndicate Bank in Fort St George. Being in this part of the city means we mostly serve the people who work in the government offices nearby. It’s a very historic area with all the old buildings around us. The restaurant is usually packed during the lunch hour when everyone comes out of their offices at the same time. We have to work fast to make sure everyone gets their food before they have to go back to work. It’s a bit of a rush every single day. Outside of those hours, it gets a bit quieter. We don't really have a lot of tourists coming in; it’s mostly just the regulars who work in the fort area. The 600009 zip code is a busy place to be. We don't have a big fancy sign or anything, just a simple door where people walk in. The furniture is old and the walls could probably use a bit of paint, but it works for us. We just try to keep things moving and make sure the food is ready on time. It’s a steady kind of life, feeding the same people day after day. We’ve been at Fort St George for a long time now and we just keep going.
