The Surya Restaurant

Our restaurant, The Surya Restaurant, is over at 498, Kothari Para in Jaisalmer - 345001. We are quite close to the Maharani Palace, so we see plenty of people wandering around looking at the old buildings and the stone carvings. Jaisalmer is a very hot place for most of the year, so we spend a lot of time making sure the fans are working and the place stays as cool as possible for our guests. The building we are in is old, like most things in this part of town, and it has that yellow stone that everyone knows us for. We don't have a polished corporate look at all. The tables are a bit old and the menus have a few thumbprints on them from years of use. It’s just a family-run kind of place where we do most of the work ourselves. We wake up early to beat the heat and get the cleaning done before the sun gets too high in the sky. It is a simple life here in Kothari Para. We know all the other shopkeepers on the street and we often stand outside in the evenings to chat when it starts to cool down. We don't have a big marketing plan. We just put our sign out front and hope people like what we have to offer. It’s been working for us so far, so we just keep going day after day.
