Desert Eves Restaurant

You can find us inside the Jaisalmer Fort, right next to the Jain Temple. We are part of the Haveli Hotel Suraj building. Living and working inside the fort is different from the rest of the city. The walls are thick stone and the lanes are very narrow. Sometimes it feels like time stopped a long time ago. We get a lot of people who are visiting the temple and they need a place to sit. Desert Eves isn't a massive place. We just have a few tables and we try to make people feel comfortable. It’s quiet here compared to the main roads outside the fort walls. You can hear the bells from the temple sometimes. We don't use any fancy machines or anything. It's mostly just hand-cooked stuff. The stairs are a bit steep because it’s an old haveli, but that is just how it is in Jaisalmer. We like being inside the fort because of the history. Every stone has a story. Our restaurant is just one small part of it. We serve the people who walk past our door every day. Locals, travelers, whoever is hungry. We don't have a big menu that changes all the time. We stick to what we know. It is a family-run kind of thing. We just want to provide a decent meal in a nice old building without making it complicated. Most days are peaceful and we like it that way.
