Milan Resturant

Our restaurant is right near the fort parking in Dhibba Para. Being in Jaisalmer, there is always sand blowing around, so we spend a lot of time dusting the tables. It’s a small place, nothing like the big tourist spots you see in the magazines. We have a view of the fort from the street outside, which is nice in the evenings. I mostly work in the back or stand by the door to greet people. The menu is simple and we stick to what we know how to cook well. We don't have fancy menus with pictures. It’s just a list of what we have that day. Sometimes we run out of certain vegetables if the market didn't have them in the morning. People sit on the benches and talk for a long time. It gets very hot in the afternoons, so we keep the fans going at full speed. I’ve lived here all my life and I like that our place feels like a regular part of the neighborhood. We get travelers who are lost or looking for a cheap meal, and we also get locals who just want a cup of tea. It’s a bit worn down in places, the paint is peeling a little near the ceiling, but it’s a comfortable spot. We don't try to be something we are not. It’s just a kitchen and some tables near the fort where you can rest.
