Jaisalmer is a beautiful place, but living and working here in Vyasa Pada is tough sometimes. It’s very old, and the streets are narrow and winding. Our place, La Puerta Del Sol, is right in the heart of all that history. The sun here is no joke; it beats down on the yellow stone buildings until everything feels like it’s glowing. We spend a lot of time just maintaining the place because the desert wind blows sand into every little crack and crevice. It’s a constant battle with a broom. We aren't a big hotel with hundreds of staff members. It’s just a few of us who grew up around here and know the area well. We don't have those glossy brochures you see in travel agencies. Usually, people find us just by walking through the alleys and seeing our door. Inside, it’s cool and quiet, which is a nice break from the heat outside. We’ve got some old furniture and some local rugs that we’ve had for years. It’s not a perfect setup, and the plumbing can be a bit temperamental because the buildings are so old, but it has a lot of character. We don't try to act like we are something we're not. We’re just a local spot in a very old city, trying to make sure anyone who stops by has a decent place to rest.
