Deoki Niwas Palace

You can find Deoki Niwas Palace right across from the Kishan Ghat Prol on Jethwai Road. It’s an old-style building made of that yellow stone you see everywhere in this part of the country. We’ve kept it looking the way it always has, with the carvings and the big doors. It’s a bit of a maze inside sometimes, with different levels and corners. Running a place like this takes a lot of work because the stone needs constant cleaning from the dust that blows in from the road. We try to keep the courtyard cool, especially when the sun is really hitting hard in the afternoon. It’s not a corporate hotel chain; it’s more of a family-run kind of place where things are done a bit more slowly. We have some rooms that are bigger than others, and they all have their own quirks. Some guests like to sit out and look at the view of the fort or the surrounding area. We don't have fancy uniforms or a big reception desk with computers everywhere. Usually, it’s just one of us sitting there to hand over the keys. We make sure there’s water and the beds are made. It gets quiet at night once the traffic on Jethwai Road dies down. We just focus on keeping the place running and making sure people have a roof over their heads while they explore. It is an old building, but we like it.
