Ristorante Italiano om

We are located right inside the historic Jaisalmer Fort. If you walk through the narrow streets to the Vyaspara area near Canonpoint, you will find Ristorante Italiano om. It is a bit of a climb to get up here, but the view of the city below is worth it. We have been running this place for quite some time now. We decided to do Italian food because we thought it would be a nice change for the travelers who come from all over. The building is made of the local yellow stone, just like everything else in the fort. It stays quite cool inside even when the sun is hitting the walls hard outside. We don't have a big fancy kitchen with modern gadgets. We just have the basics and we do everything by hand. It is a small operation. Usually, it’s just one or two of us in the front and a couple of people in the back. We don't have a mission statement or a fancy philosophy. We just want to make sure the pasta is cooked right and the guests have a place to sit and rest. Living and working inside the fort is unique. You feel the history every day. We know all the neighbors and the local kids who run around the alleys. It is a very simple, honest way to live. We just open the doors and see who the wind blows in.
