Zaffron Restaurant

Our restaurant is over at number 80 in the Kandhan Complex on Anna Salai. If you know Pondicherry, you know that Anna Salai is one of the main roads and it is almost always busy with bikes and cars. We are near the main town area, so it is a convenient place for people to stop while they are out doing their shopping. The building is a bit older, and we share it with a few other shops. We have been here for some time now, and we have our own way of doing things. The morning starts with getting the fresh vegetables from the market and getting the spices ready. We do not use pre-packaged stuff if we can help it. The dining area is simple with basic furniture. We are not trying to win any design awards; we just want a place where people can sit comfortably and eat. Sometimes the power goes out, which is common here, but we have a generator to keep the lights and fans going. Most of our staff lives nearby, so we are all part of the local community. We do not have a big mission statement. We just want to make sure the food tastes like it should and that people leave with full stomachs. It is a straightforward job, and we show up every day to do it because it is what we know.
