Anjappar Chettinad AC Restaurant

You can find us in Pondicherry on Lalbahadur Sastry Street, which people often just call Bussy Street. We are actually located inside the Devis Grand Hotel at number 239. It’s a good spot because we are quite near the Kamban Kalaiarangam, which is a big landmark around here. Being in Pondicherry, we get a mix of local residents and people visiting from out of town. The restaurant has the A/C on to keep things comfortable because the humidity can get pretty high near the coast. It’s not a huge place, but we make the most of the space we have. We spend our time prepping the kitchen and making sure the dining area is clean. Working in a hotel building means we have to be quite organized with our timing. Sometimes the street outside gets really busy with scooters and tourists, but inside it’s a bit more settled. We just focus on serving the Chettinad dishes we are known for without making a big fuss about it. It’s a straightforward business. We show up, we cook, we serve, and we go home. There is always something to do, whether it's checking the supplies or talking to the hotel staff about something. We’ve been at this spot for a while now and it feels like a regular part of the neighborhood. We don't use any fancy scripts, we just talk to people like they are our neighbors.
