Akshara Restaurant

Akshara Restaurant is inside Hotel Jayaram on Kamaraj Salai in Pondicherry. We have been here for a while, serving whoever comes through the doors. It is a pretty straightforward setup. People find us because they are staying at the hotel or they live nearby. Kamaraj Salai is always moving, but once you step inside, it is just a normal place to sit down and eat. We do not have any big signs or flashy lights outside. We mostly just focus on the daily routine of getting the kitchen ready and making sure there is enough food for the lunch crowd. It gets a bit hectic around noon, as you might expect in this part of town. The staff has been around for a bit, so we all know how things work. We keep the tables wiped down and the water glasses full. There is not much to say about the decor; it is just what it is. We are not trying to be a five-star place or anything like that. It is just a spot for a meal when you are in Pondicherry. Sometimes the power goes out or it gets a bit warm, but that is just how it goes here. We open up early and stay busy until the evening. If you are near No 90, you will see the hotel and we are just right there inside. It is simple and it works for us and the people who come in to eat.
