Restaurant La Terrasse

We are located at the corner of Subbiah Street in Pondicherry. The address is a bit confusing because it says Old No 5 and New No 2, but we are right near the Beach Corner and next to the fire services building. It is a good spot because you can walk to the beach in just a couple of minutes. The restaurant has a terrace, which is where we got the name from. When the wind blows from the sea, it feels quite nice up there. We are not a big operation. It is just me and a couple of guys who have worked here for a long time. We spend a lot of our time sweeping because the sand and dust from the street always seem to find their way inside. It does not feel like a polished business. It feels more like a regular house where we happen to cook for people. We use ingredients that we find at the market nearby. Some days are very quiet, especially during the middle of the week or when it is raining hard. We do not have fancy kitchen machines. We just use what we have and keep the stove going. People usually find us by accident while they are walking toward the water. We do not do any advertising. It is just a simple place to sit down, have a meal, and maybe look at the street for a while. It is what it is.
