Nalla Beach Restaurant

We set up Nalla Beach Restaurant right across from Pondicherry University. We are at No 14 on Alamaram Street in Chinnakalapet. Being so close to the university means we see a lot of students and teachers every day. It’s a lively spot because of that. The beach is right there too, so you get that salt air coming in when the wind blows the right way. We spend most of our mornings getting the kitchen ready before the lunch rush hits. It gets hot in Pondicherry, really hot, so the fans are always going full blast. We’ve got some tables and chairs, nothing too special, just a place for people to sit and eat. Sometimes the students stay a long time talking about their classes or whatever is on their minds. We don’t mind as long as there’s space for others. Being in Chinnakalapet is a bit away from the main town center, so it’s got a different feel. It’s quieter at night once the university lets out. We deal with the usual stuff, like suppliers coming late or the fridge acting up in the humidity. That’s just part of running a restaurant near the water. We serve food that people like, nothing too complicated. It’s a family-run kind of thing, and we’re usually here from morning until the last customer leaves. It’s a busy life but we’re used to the rhythm of the university calendar and the seasons by the coast. We just keep the doors open and the food ready for whoever stops by.
