Vivekananda Krishi Unnayan Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our small office is located at house number 01 in Shridharpur village. It’s in the Paschimpara Ghola area, which falls under Ranaghat-II in the Nadia district. We named this Vivekananda Krishi Unnayan Farmers Producer Company Limited because we wanted to focus on the improvement of our farming work here. There are a lot of us involved, all from around this neighborhood. We grow different things depending on the season, like everyone else in West Bengal. Some of us focus on rice, others on vegetables. The idea was just to pool our resources so we aren't at the mercy of middle-men all the time. It’s a lot of work to keep everyone organized, but it’s better than the old way. The roads around here can get pretty muddy during the monsoon, so getting things moved takes a bit of planning. We spend a lot of time talking under the shade of the trees about what seeds to buy next. We aren't some big corporation from the city. We are just people from Nadia who know how to work the dirt. The 741238 area is our home, and we’ve been here for generations. If you walk through Shridharpur, you’ll see our fields. We keep things simple and honest because that’s the only way we know how to live. It’s about the crops and the community, nothing more and nothing less.
