Chakdiknagar Mahila Farmers Producer Company Limited

Down in Chakdignagar, we have the Chakdiknagar Mahila Farmers Producer Company Limited. We are based out of Sudhir Chandra Mallik’s place in the Kalirhat area. This is mostly a group of local women who wanted to do something with the farming work we already do every day. The village of Chakdignagar is a quiet place where most people are involved with the land. We don’t have a fancy office building with a sign. We usually meet up at the house, sit in the porch, and discuss what we are going to grow or sell this month. The post office at Kalirhat is just a short walk away. Our life revolves around the seasons and the crops like paddy or local vegetables. It’s hard work being out in the sun, but doing it as a company helps us stay organized together. We have to deal with a lot of paperwork now, which is very new for some of us. We help each other out with the forms and the bank stuff when we go to town. In 741102, everyone knows who we are. We are just the neighborhood women trying to get a better price for our harvest. It’s not about big profits or anything like that. We just want to make sure our families are okay and the farm work keeps going for the next generation. It’s a very practical way of living and working together in our village.
