Krishnanagar Agro Farmers Producercompany Limited is centered around Naduria. Krishna Chandra Das Mondal is the one who keeps all of us in line. He lives right there in the village and that is where we all meet up. The village stays quiet most of the time, except for when it is time to harvest. Then everyone is out in the sun, and the noise of the carts and the talking never stops. We handle the crops from this specific area, mostly stuff that grows well in our local soil. We are not some big city company. We are just a bunch of neighbors who decided to work together finally. It is easier to buy what we need in bulk that way. Sometimes the crops do not do well and we all feel the pinch in our pockets. We talk about it under the big tree near the pond. Khamarsimulia is a bit of a trek from here, but we make it work. The roads are not the best, especially after the monsoon rain, so we have to be very careful with the trucks. We do not have any marketing people or fancy brochures to hand out. If you want to know about us, you just come to the village and ask anyone you see. They will tell you we are the ones who are always out in the fields. It is a lot of long hours, but it is the only thing we know.
