Desihaat Farmers Professional Organisation Private Limited is based in Badkulla, and we work out of Tanmoy Roy’s house in Dhanhat. We are a small group of people trying to make the local farming business a bit more professional. Even though we have a long name, we’re really just locals who know the area well. Badkulla is where we live and work, so it makes sense for us to be here. We spend a lot of time talking to farmers and helping them figure out the best way to sell their stuff at the haat. It’s not always simple, and there’s a lot of back-and-forth communication. We don’t have a big, fancy office with a receptionist. It’s just Tanmoy’s place where we sit down with our notebooks and try to stay organized. Some days are busier than others, especially when it’s harvest time. We aren’t trying to impress anyone with big words or corporate talk. We just want to be useful to the people in our community. If things get a bit disorganized, we just work harder to fix it. That’s how it is here in Badkulla. We know the people and we know the land. We’re just a practical team doing what we can to make sure everyone gets a fair deal. It’s just everyday work for us, and we’re happy to be doing it.
