We are located within the Wachan Guest House in Hunder, which is part of the Nubra Valley in Leh Ladakh. It’s a very different kind of place compared to the big cities. The air is fresh and the mountains are right there in front of us. Our restaurant is a garden setup, so people can enjoy the natural surroundings while they have their meals. Because we are in Hunder, getting supplies isn't always easy. We have to wait for the trucks to come in from Leh, and sometimes the weather makes things difficult. We serve a mix of things, mostly stuff that travelers and our guest house visitors like to eat. It’s a family-run operation. My cousins and I do most of the work, from tending the garden to serving the tea. We don’t have any fancy menus or expensive cutlery. It’s all very practical and down-to-earth. The vibe is quiet, which is why people come to Ladakh in the first place. We like to sit and talk with the guests when things aren't too busy. It’s a small life here in Nubra, but it’s a good one. We don’t have any corporate rules. We just treat people like they are visiting our home. If you ever find yourself in the Hunder area, come by the guest house and say hello. The walk through the garden is quite nice in the evenings.
