Chansa Restaurant

Our place is tucked away on Fort Road inside the Poplar Eco Resort. Being in Leh, especially in the Shenam area, means the air is always crisp and the views of the mountains are right there when you step outside. We are not too far from the main Leh Ho area, so we get a lot of people walking over from the fort. The restaurant has a quiet feel to it, mostly because the resort itself is a bit of a getaway. We have a lot of wood in the decor and big windows because you want to see the sky here. In the winter, things slow down a lot because of the cold, but during the season, it is a different story. We start our mornings quite early, getting the tea ready while the sun comes up over the peaks. The staff stays busy cleaning and getting the kitchen going. We don’t do much advertising; the guests at the resort usually find their way to us, and others stop by while exploring Fort Road. It is a long walk from some parts of town, so people are usually ready to sit down when they arrive. We try to keep the atmosphere relaxed. There is no rush here. We just serve the food we have and watch the weather change through the windows. It is a nice way to spend the day in Ladakh.
