Chube Restaurant

Our restaurant is part of the Chube Hotel up here in Leh. We are located near the Women Alliance Office, which is a good landmark if you are walking around the main town area. Life in Ladakh is a bit slower, and we run our kitchen the same way. When the winter comes, things get very quiet, but during the summer months, we see people from all over the world. The restaurant isn't very big. It's just a cozy space where we serve local dishes and some other stuff that travelers usually ask for after a long trek. We use what we can get from the local markets each morning. Sometimes the electricity goes out, and we have to use candles, but that’s just part of living in the mountains. We don't have a fancy menu with photos or descriptions. It's just a list of what we can cook well. The staff is mostly local people who know the area and the weather. If you need a place to sit and have some tea while looking at the hills, we have space for that. We aren't trying to compete with the big hotels down the road. We just keep our place clean and the food warm for our guests. It's a simple operation at 194101. We live here too, so the restaurant feels like an extension of our own kitchen. You might find us sitting at one of the tables doing accounts or just chatting when it’s not busy.
