The Kaal Restaurant

We are up here in Leh Ladakh at The Kaal Restaurant, which is part of the hotel on Fort Road. The air is very thin here and it takes most people a few days to get used to it. We are quite close to the airport in Leh Ho, so we see people who have just landed and are looking for a place to eat. The view of the mountains from Fort Road is really something, though we see it every day so we might be used to it. The restaurant is inside the Kaal Hotel and it is a sturdy building made for the cold weather. In the winter it gets very quiet because the roads close and there aren't many people around. We spend that time doing repairs and staying warm by the heaters. During the summer season it is the opposite and we are busy from morning until late at night. We don't use any fancy words to describe what we do. We just cook food for the guests and the people walking by on Fort Road. The kitchen is small but we make it work. It is an honest place to work and we like meeting the travelers who come from all over the world to see Ladakh. Everything moves a bit slower up here and we don't mind that at all. It is just how life is in the mountains.
