Tingno Restaurant

Tingno Restaurant is located inside Hotel Thongsal on Yurthung Road in Leh. We are quite close to the Shanti Stupa, so you can see it from the road nearby. In Ladakh, things move a bit slower because of the altitude and the cold. We spend a lot of our time making sure the kitchen is warm and there’s enough fuel for the stoves. The restaurant isn't very large, but it has a cozy feel when the wind is blowing outside. Our staff is mostly local folks who know how to handle the mountain winters. We get a lot of travelers who are a bit tired from the thin air. The menu is simple because getting fresh ingredients up here in Leh-Ladakh isn't always easy, especially when the roads close. We focus on what we can get from the local market. The wooden tables have some scratches on them, and the curtains are a bit faded from the sun, but it feels like a real home. The 194101 area is beautiful but tough. We spend our mornings cleaning up the dust that blows in from the valley. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except during the peak tourist months. We just try to serve good food and keep the place comfortable for anyone who drops in after visiting the Stupa. Sometimes we have to wait for the supplies to arrive from the city down south.
