The Circle

The Circle is over on VIP Road, right by the Kolkata Airport. Being so close to the airport means we see a lot of people who are just landing or about to catch a flight. The noise of the planes is something you get used to after a couple of days. VIP Road is always jammed with traffic, so we are right in the thick of it. It’s not a quiet suburban spot. We are a team of regular people who just work here every day. Some of us have been here since the place first opened. We don't go in for all that corporate talk you see online. We just keep the place open and make sure things are running. It gets dusty because of the road construction and the cars passing by, so we are always wiping down the counters and the tables. It’s a simple setup. We don't have a massive menu or anything too complicated. People usually stop by because they are tired from traveling and just want somewhere to sit for a bit before their next flight or trip. We just provide that space. It is honest work and we don't try to make it sound more important than it is. Kolkata is a busy city and we are just one small part of it near the main terminal. We mostly just focus on getting through the daily tasks and making sure everything is in its right place before the next shift starts.
