Anustaan Bhawan

We are situated on Rash Behari Avenue, very close to Deshopriyo Park. This is one of the busiest parts of Kolkata, especially around Sarat Bose Road. Our building is at number 132. It’s an old structure, like many others in this area, but it has a lot of character. We call it Anustaan Bhawan. Mostly, we host social events and some cultural programs. The location is the main thing for us because everyone knows where Deshopriyo Park is. It’s easy to get here by bus or auto. Inside, the rooms are fairly large but they aren't modern or stylish. They are just functional. We have a lot of local residents booking the place for shradhs or small weddings. We don’t have a big staff. It’s just a couple of us who look after the bookings and the maintenance. The street outside is always full of people and vendors. It can be quite loud, but that’s just the vibe of South Kolkata. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, with new shops coming up everywhere, but we’ve stayed pretty much the same. We don’t offer fancy catering packages. We just provide the venue and let the families decide what they want to do. It feels more personal that way. It’s just a local bhawan for local people. We try to keep the rates reasonable so that everyone in the neighborhood can afford to use the space when they need it most.
