Banana Leaf Restaurant

You can find us on Rash Behari Ave in Kalighat. We are located in the Komala Vilas building at numbers 73 and 75. This part of Kolkata is always moving. There are trams, buses, and people walking everywhere. We’ve been in this spot for a long time. The building is old and has a lot of character, like most things in this neighborhood. We serve traditional food on banana leaves, which is what we’re known for around here. It’s a busy place, especially during lunch hours when the office workers and locals come in. The tables are close together because we try to fit everyone who wants to eat. It gets a bit hot sometimes when the kitchen is really busy, but we have fans going. We don't have a big fancy menu, just the things we know how to make well. Most people who come here have been visiting us for years. They know exactly what they want before they even sit down. We like being part of the Kalighat area. It’s got a lot of history and we feel like we belong here. It’s not the quietest place to eat, but it’s real. We keep the floor swept and the water jugs filled. If you’re walking down from the temple or coming from the metro, we’re just a short walk away. It’s just us, making food and serving the community every day. It feels like home to us and we hope it does for you too.
