Aseela Restaurant

We are right in the thick of things on S N Banerjee Road in the Dharmatala area of Kolkata. Our place is at 6A, and we are pretty easy to spot because we are right next to the Elite Cinema and just a few steps away from Aminia. It’s one of the busiest corners you can imagine, with trams clattering by and people constantly rushing to catch a movie or a bus. The building we are in is old, like most things around here, and it has that specific smell of dust and cooking that you only find in central Kolkata. We start our day early, before the crowds really get thick, to get everything set up. The noise from the street is something you just get used to after a while, though it can be hard to hear yourself think when the horns start going. We spend most of our time dealing with the constant flow of people coming in from the cinema or the market nearby. The floors take a beating with so many feet walking over them, so we are always sweeping up. It’s a fast-paced environment and doesn’t leave much time for sitting around. By the time the last show at the cinema is over, we are usually exhausted and ready to lock the doors and head home in the dark. It is just another day of keeping things running in the city.
