Bawarchi Restaurant

We are located at 44 Raja S C Mullick Road in the Bagha Jatin area of South Kolkata. This part of the city is always crowded, and the traffic on the main road is constant. Our shop is right on the edge of the sidewalk, so you get the smell of the city and the sound of buses all day. It’s a small place, nothing too fancy. We have a few tables inside, but many people just stop by to take something home. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we spend most of our time in the kitchen instead. There are three of us who handle everything from the cooking to the billing. We’ve lived in this neighborhood for a long time, so we know most of the people who walk past. Kolkata summers are tough, so we have a couple of big fans that we keep on high. The floor is made of old tiles that have seen a lot of feet over the years. We don't have any big signs or neon lights, just the name of the place above the door. We buy our spices from the local market, and we prep everything by hand. It’s a slow process, but that is how we do it. Some days are slow, and some days we can't keep up with the orders. We just take it as it comes. It's a humble little spot in a very busy part of town and we like it that way.
