If you know where the Ice Skating Rink is on Sayed Amir Ali Avenue, then you’ve probably walked right past us. We are at number 53 in Beckbagan, right in the middle of all that Ballygunge traffic and noise. Being here for so long, we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years. Our shop, Indus Valley, is where we spend most of our daylight hours. It’s not a huge place, but it’s full of stuff we’ve put a lot of time into. Most mornings start with unlocking the front door and sweeping the dust off the steps because the road outside gets really busy with cars and buses going toward the 700019 area. We have regulars who stop by just to say hello, and then there are the people who are just passing through and happen to see our sign. It is a bit of a squeeze inside sometimes when we get new stock delivered. We don't have any big corporate meetings or anything like that. It’s mostly just us chatting with whoever walks in and making sure things are where they should be on the shelves. Sometimes the lights flicker a bit when it rains hard, but that’s just how it is in this part of town. We just keep the doors open and do our work day by day. It’s a simple way to run things, and it works for us.
