DAWAT-E- AFGHAN

Jessore Road is a bit of a nightmare during office hours, with all the buses and cars honking. Our place, DAWAT-E- AFGHAN, is tucked into the Aditya Building at 148. It is right in the Motijhil area of Kolkata. Most people use Satgachi More as a way to find us since the road can get confusing if you aren't from around here. We have been here for a bit and seen the neighborhood change quite a lot. There used to be fewer buildings, but now it’s all cramped up. Inside, we have some tables set up for whoever walks in. It isn't a huge space, so sometimes it feels a bit tight when the evening crowd shows up. We mostly focus on those heavy, meaty dishes that people in Kolkata seem to like so much. The kitchen gets really hot, especially in the summer, and you can hear the chefs shouting orders back and forth. We don't have any fancy uniforms or anything like that. It’s just us working through the day. Sometimes the power goes out for a minute and we have to scramble to get the generator going. It's just a normal day-to-day business for us. People come in, eat their fill, and head back out into the noise of Jessore Road. We just keep the lights on and the food ready for whoever is hungry. It's a simple life here in Motijhil.
