Chitralekha Exports

Chitralekha Exports is tucked away on the first floor of 9, James Hickey Sarani. We are in Room No. 10. If you know Kolkata, you know these old buildings have a lot of character, but they also have their quirks. The staircase is a bit narrow and the ceilings are high. It can get quite humid during the monsoon, and we have the old fans whirring away to keep the air moving. Our office is fairly small, filled with files and samples of things we export. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find modern glass walls. Instead, we have wooden desks and a lot of history in the walls. The street outside is always bustling with people and yellow taxis. It’s loud, but you stop noticing it after a while. Most of our day is spent coordinating with vendors and checking on the status of various containers. There is a lot of paperwork to deal with in the export business, so we spend a lot of time at our desks. Sometimes the internet is slow or the rain makes it hard to get around, but we just keep going. We don’t go in for fancy presentations. We just focus on getting the goods from the source to the port. It’s a bit of a maze in this building, but we’ve made it our home for the business.
