S. R. K. Jewellers

You can find S. R. K. Jewellers at 27 North Mada Street, which is right in the heart of Mylapore. It’s a great spot to be, especially with the temple nearby and all the activity that happens around it. The mornings are usually the best time here, when the air is still a bit cool and the flower sellers are just setting up on the street. Our shop is number 27, and it’s a modest place where we keep our jewelry. We’ve been here for a while, so the floor is a bit worn in places and the counters have a few scratches, but it feels like home to us. We spend a lot of our time just sitting and talking with whoever comes in. Sometimes they want to buy something, and sometimes they just want to chat for a bit. We don't really have a sales pitch or anything; we just show people what we have and let them decide. Mylapore has a very specific rhythm, and we are just one small part of it. We usually have a flask of coffee ready to share, and we take things pretty slow. The evenings get really busy with the crowds coming to the temple, so we usually keep the doors open to catch the breeze. It’s a simple way of doing things, and we don’t see any reason to change it after all these years.
