Pohieer Dairry is situated at number 5 in Ondy Colony. This is part of Janani Nagar in the Kundrathur area. If you come by early in the morning, you’ll see the most activity happening. That is when the milk arrives and we have to get everything sorted out. It’s a bit of a rush before the sun really comes up. We have the cooling tanks and the bottling equipment all set up in the back. The floor is usually wet because we are constantly washing things down to keep it clean. Working with dairy means you can't really take a day off. The cows don't stop, so we don't either. It’s a lot of heavy lifting with the crates and making sure the temperature stays right where it should be. The neighbors in Ondy Colony are mostly used to the trucks coming and going by now. It’s a quiet enough spot otherwise. We have a small team here and everyone knows their job. Some of us handle the deliveries while others stay back to manage the processing. It’s just honest work. We don't have any big signs or fancy decorations. It’s just a plain building where we handle the milk and get it ready for the local shops. Sometimes the machinery acts up and we have to spend the afternoon fixing a pump or a seal. That’s just part of the daily routine here in Janani Nagar. We just keep our heads down and work. It's not glamorous but it's what we do.
